Welcome to Candyland

You're never too old for Candyland. When I was little, I used to play Candyland against myself!

In my illustration class, we were given the opportunity to redesign some preexisting box art. A lot of people chose DVD cases and album covers; I chose Candyland. Every couple of years, I've noticed that Candyland gets a makeover. I've always wanted to be in charge of redesigning the characters. Although there have been new characters introduced to Candyland since I was a kid, I chose to redesign the ones I knew best. So, here we have:

Mr. Mint: In the traditional game, he's a lumberjack. I gave him a class promotion and made him an aristocrat.

Gramma Nutt: I'd wear a bonnet like that.

Princess Lolly: Watch out Licorice!

Lord Licorice: He's supposed to be the villain in Candyland . . . but I just sort of made him socially awkward.

Queen Frostine: I still haven't decided whether she's wearing a frosting hat, or if that's just her hair. Anyway, her dress is supposed to kind of look like an overturned cupcake.

King Kandy: He has little tolerance for hovering creatures.

Jolly: He's the hovering gumdrop monster.

Gloppy: Traditionally, he was a molasses swamp monster. Then, he became a chocolate swamp monster. In my version, he's a melted ice cream swamp monster.

Like I said, you're never too old for Candyland.
